U.N Denies Russia Korea Peace Rule
In Tokyo on February 16, the Communist bloc proposed Russia Poland and Czechoslovakia as candidates for a neutral committee to supervise behind-the-lines inspection after a Korean armistice. The United Nations rejected Russia’s candidacy while accepting Poland and Czechoslovakia.

Arsen Hunt Over Fire At A K Wilson Lumber Yard
Five county officials requested an arson investigation after a 25000 dollar blaze damaged a large shed and machinery at the A K Wilson Lumber Co yard near Del Amo Boulevard and Alameda Avenue. Sheriff arson squad member EF B Hatcher said the area was empty at the time. The request was made for County Fire Battalion Chief George Bartling. Minor fires have troubled the yard for years, usually from overheated dry kiln equipment.

Two Sanitation Workers Die in Water at Pump Station
Two Department of Sanitation workers, Odis McCluire and Arthur E. Rosberg, were found face down in five feet of water beneath a sewer pumping station at First Street and the Los Angeles Flood Control Channel. McCluire, 41, and Rosberg, 61, failed to report off work. Gale H. Johnson discovered the bodies after entering the gas-filled chamber with an oxygen mask. Police and a Fire Dept. rescue squad responded. both men were dead on removal. Investigators consider a possible collapse of McCluire, who wore boots, as a cause.

Wife Slayer Kills Himself After Compton Killing
A Compton butcher wanted for killing his wife and wounding his 17 year old daughter killed himself in his car near the murder scene. Paul Suggs, 49, of 31 S White Ave, and his wife Helen, 43, are named in the tragedy. Daughter Pauline was hospitalized. See SLAYER, Page 2.
