4 Killed in War Games at Camp Drum in Snowball
A wave of accidents during Operation Snowball in upstate New York killed nine servicemen and injured about 125. A twin engined C46 Commando crash at Wheeler-Sacks Airfield killed four crew and injured eighteen paratroopers. A freight train collision with an Army truck near Spragville killed two more and injured five. A mass jump of 2000 paratroopers added another fatality and eight injuries.
