Assaulted as Kin Slain, She Says

Rose Marie Birdsall, 24, a cocktail waitress, was jailed as investigators probed the death of her brother in law Warren Lee Eddenfield, 46, whose body was found on Mt Baldy Highway. She told detectives two men raped her and a third beat Eddenfield to death, then fled. She claimed to try loading his body into his car and later stayed in a Long Beach hotel before being arrested. Authorities booked her on suspicion of murder. another suspect, Jacob F. Wagner, 43, a gardener, was also arrested in connection with the slaying. The case involved driving to Mt Baldy, an assault, rape, and a death scene reported by several witnesses.

Two Holdups Staged Here in Long Beach
