Jeep Crash Fatal to 8th Army Chief
In Korea Lt. Gen. Walton H. Walker commander of the U S Eighth Army was killed when his jeep collided with a South Korean army truck north of Seoul. His son Capt. Sam S Walker was near the scene and his father died en route to hospital. Gen Douglas MacArthur announced Lt. Gen. Matthew B Ridgway would become the new 8th Army commander.

Naples Pageant Fog Delays Canal Festival
A thick fog blanketed Naples last night forcing the cancellation of the planned canal pageant with about 25 boats, choral groups, lights, and a Santa brigade. The Naples Improvement Association spokesman said the event will be staged tonight to reschedule the celebration for spectators and participants who travelled to view the parade.
