In Greensboro on August 16 physicians revived a 60 year old woman whose heart had stopped for 29 minutes using direct heart massage and injections. The patient, considered “dead” longer than any prior case, was in fair condition but not out of danger. Names of patient and doctors were not released.
Dr. Donald Slaughter testified that an experiment on humans at the university medical school was the first of its kind here. Michalek admitted misplacing a bottle, giving injections to Jack Clifford a 30 year old technician and Ardys Pearson 26 a school secretary, both dying shortly after. He described three vials on the table as he prepared for the injections and spoke haltingly about the fatal mishap.
The State Fish and Game Commission reports grunion will spawn on the beaches tonight at about 10 25 p m with several more landings planned tomorrow at 11 00 a m and 11 45 p m. A playful note notes the slippery fish are wary of people.
