Flood Devastates Ft Pierre and Nearby Towns
Floodwaters rose nearly ten feet, driving about 2400 people from Ft Pierre and across the Missouri. Residents described the disaster as ruinous and life changing with many seeking shelter or staying with relatives. Some called the event a bankruptcy of the town while others held a cautious sense of resilience amid the wreckage.
