Egg lore and shipboard eggs stir memory of maritime fare

A scattered reminiscence covers egg counts in cases and weekly shiploads, a 1772 California start with red hens from Monterey, and Farallon egg raiding years. Strides Toward Big League Status for Long Beach Ad Market

Long Beach area officials say the region is evolving into a major advertising hub as agencies grow from two to six, with one top-rated firm expanding local and national accounts. Growth stems from eastern LA County and Orange County demand, freeway access, and proximity to liveable conditions. Industry leaders note the need for greater self-promotion while PG&E exec Robert Gros urges the trade to emphasize public service and community support.

Dominguez Incorporation Hearing Set For Wednesday

About ten thousand residents will travel to Los Angeles civic center to hear the Local Agency Formation Commission reconsider a proposal by the Dominguez Carson Citizens Committee for Incorporation. The plan would create a city south of Alondra Boulevard and include Dominguez and Compton with Long Beach boundaries. Eastern Longwood Estates are excluded, proposed to join Long Beach via annexation. The commission previously cut land, leaving about one third outside the March 17 decision. Long Beach officials urge delay and continued inquiry into service options and possible annexation or retention as unincorporated. A court challenge resulted in replacing commissioner Bert Bond with J A Beasley for the Wednesday hearing.
