Voice of Peace Through Children Choir Travels Abroad
Esther Beekly, founder and director of the Long Beach International Children's Choir, recalled the moment the idea came to her in 1957 at a United Nations birthday event. What began with one voice grew to 90 children ages 4 to 14, appearing on television and around the world to promote peace. Her quiet leadership kept the focus on the group as they prepared for their first trip outside California to Kansas City, marking a new travel milestone.
