Unions criticize six percent school district pay hike proposal
Long Beach Unified School and Community College Districts faced strong union criticism after the Personnel Commission recommended a six percent across the board raise for classified workers. Director Ronald Dunn said the figure reflects prevailing local wages and aims to place workers in the upper quarter of the surveyed agencies. He noted increases may occur elsewhere after July 1 but said those changes were not factored into the recommendation. The district’s wage outlook could drop to the mid point once all factors are considered.
