Ethel Barrymore Dies Queen of Barrymores 58-Year Stage Era
Ethel Barrymore, star of the Barrymore acting dynasty for 58 years, died Thursday in Beverly Hills at age 74. Her son Samuel Barrymore Colt, a nurse, and a priest attended her as Dr. Clay Barton certified the death from heart illness. Last rites were given. she never remarried after 1923. Her last film was Johnny Trouble in 1957 and she remained a show business fan, especially baseball, until illness curtailed acting two weeks before her passing.
