Senate rejects NH new vote for disputed Senate seat
In a near party line 55 to 43 vote the Senate refused to refer last November’s New Hampshire Senate race to a state election. Sen. Weicker’s proposal for a special election failed, five Democrats joining Republicans. An amendment by Sen. Allen would declare the seat vacant and order a new election by August 1 if neither Durkin nor Wyman is seated.
