Age Not Blood Halts Adoption in Los Angeles Case
A middle aged couple was denied permission to adopt a two year old girl of mixed race living with them since infancy. Superior Judge James McRoberts criticized the age of the applicants while noting the child's mixed heritage should not bar adoption. The County Bureau of Adoptions opposed the plan citing race and the couple's ages. The judge allowed the case to proceed with a focus on the child's welfare and happiness.
