He has left home rarely in 1 1/2 months, visiting Chiang Kai-shek’s tomb once, guarded around the clock. Officials say he may stay in Taiwan or move to Europe, Britain, or Switzerland, while observers note fears for his safety if he travels.

Resistance to Viet Reds said wiped out in Mekong Delta

Viet Cong soldiers aided by private citizens reportedly crushed a pocket of anti-Communist resistance in Dinh Tuong Province between May 29 and June in Cho Gao district. The Liberation Radio broadcast said unreported military men were eliminated and that other reactionary elements were exposed. No further details were provided. The report notes scattered resistance since Saigon fell, seen as no threat to the new regime. A separate Lao broadcast claimed Laos is restructuring its army, cutting forces to 30,000 from 50,000 and ordering political courses for soldiers.
