Missionary doctor’s program battered by war in Vietnam
Ex Special Forces medic Tom Coles built a Montagnard village health worker program in Kontum Province, training 27 health officers across 14 villages serving 40,000 tribesmen. As North Vietnamese offensives closed roads, April visits were suspended and the program faced evacuation losses, with Coles lamenting delays in delivering care. He may stay six more months to try to revive the initiative despite a ruined countryside and displaced patients.
