Congress to View Hospital Planning
Congress and the House Ways and Means Committee examine variations of a hospitalization plan tied to Social Security. Proposals include 45 days maximum hospitalization with patient costs, vs 90 days under administration plans, plus optional cash increases and broader health care reforms funded outside the Social Security fund. Payroll tax rises would be phased, aiming to avoid a burden exceeding 10 percent.
