Johnson proposes Dial A Bus and guideway transit plans
President Johnson urged a HUD led study on futuristic urban transport including Dial-A-Bus dispatch by computer, personal rapid transit on exclusive guideways, dual mode vehicles, fast inter urban links, and continuous belt systems for pedestrians. HUD estimates a 5 10 year program cost near 3800 million with 25 million federal funding sought next year.
