Reagan Welfare Cuts OKd By Senate Panel
Sacramento California UPS Gov Ronald Reagan backs cuts of 87.4 million in welfare expenditures by tightening eligibility rules. Senate Health and Welfare Committee approves two Richardson bills sending them to the full Senate. One bill would halve property limits for aid to the blind disabled and elderly recipients. Critics say it humiliates recipients and delays aid. The other measure would restore 1964 law restricting grants to the totally disabled who need continuous care.
