Computer controlled yo yo satellites offer long term atmospheric study
Researchers propose a mission using a computer to position a satellite, deploy line length, and regulate tension. The payload would be reeled in at signal from astronauts once measurements in the 50 to 75 mile atmospheric band are complete. Prior attempts lasted only minutes with sounding rockets. shuttle missions could extend up to 30 days.
