Army drops charges in Song My massacre case
Army dismissed all charges against Capt. Thomas K. Willingham for lack of evidence. The 25 year old from Allenhurst New Jersey faced counts of unpremeditated murder and false statements over killings near My Khe 4 east of My Lai 4 on March 16 1968. Willingham will be released from active duty after paperwork. Lt Col Herman L. West at Ft McPherson found insufficient evidence for court martial. The case is separate from Lt William L. Calley Jr who faces premeditated murder charges for 102 My Lai deaths.
