Aid Bill Advances With Restrictions On Loans
Washington committee approved a foreign aid program totaling 3 0371 1000000 for the coming year, with key limitations. Provisions bar loans to Communist satellites, require notification for loans above twenty million dollars for projects extending beyond one year, and scale back military aid funding from President Eisenhower’s request. The measure also funds a development loan fund to channel most U S economic aid in the future, while defense and special assistance programs face cuts. A separate note mentions odd local incidents and a mix of unrelated items.
