Multinationals hedge against pound decline as UK currency falters
U S based multinationals with British subsidiaries seek hedges to shield earnings from sterling depreciation. Forward contracts let firms lock exchange rates for 90 days, protecting profits when pounds convert to dollars. Firms like Xerox report active hedging while some sell pounds forward to manage risk amid the pound's slide from $2.02 to $1.70+.
