U S aircraft conducted 269 tactical strikes in six days of action while Cambodian elections show Lon Nol leading with about 60 percent. Rockets hit Phnom Penh killing six including three girls, a Defense Ministry hit, and Lon Nol’s villa damaged. The Ticonderoga carrier dispatches to the Tonkin Gulf, bringing 70 Seventh Fleet ships off Vietnam. South Vietnam troop strength fell to 63,700 after 1,100 fewer on the previous week as five Army units deactivate. Frontline reports of rain and sporadic contact slow operations near Hue and Kontum as government forces extend a perimeter southwest and casualties rise.

Law enforcement officers and bicycle groups argued for mandatory licensing, contending the measure does not curb theft enough and that registration would aid law enforcement in pursuing bike theft cases statewide.
