Pele signs with Cosmos in landmark NASL move
The New York Cosmos signed Pele, 34, to a three year contract worth about 7 million dollars, bringing massive attention to the NASL. Atoms executive Hal Freeman predicts crowd could double normal to 20 000 plus if weather and media exposure cooperate and looks to CBS NBC and ABC for TV coverage. Pele’s decision follows years of talks and is viewed as a boost to American soccer credibility amid mixed Brazil reactions. Other notes include Los Angeles Dandelions women’s tryouts and weight lifting championship entries.
