Vieton hero told on general Donaldson of Detroit
Walter L. Seger, a Vietnam veteran from Royal Oak, testified he was among pilots who reported Brig. Gen. John W. Donaldson's actions in Quang Ngai province during late 1968 or early 1969. The Army charged Donaldson, 47, with killing six civilians and assaulting two others while commanding the 74th Assault Helicopter Company, Americal Division. Seger, a former personal pilot, said he feared testifying may implicate him and awaits further Army action as Donaldson seeks legal counsel with a military attorney at the Pentagon.
