Opening Weeks Away Camp Tahquitz Gearing Up
Camp Tahquitz at Barton Flats NE of Redlands is nearing opening with tests underway. Long Beach Area Council bought the site for 225000 dollars to operate under the same name as the Idylwild camp. Volunteers and Explorer Scouts have prepared the land for the first week long session June 25 to July 4 with about 2000 expected to use the camp this season. The first year will be primitive with sleeping bags under the stars and plans for a 5 year 2500000 dollar development program.
