Four day July Fourth holiday eyed for 1976
The Bicentennial Administration Advisory Council recommended a four day legal holiday around July 2 3 4 and 5 1976 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of American independence. They urged nationwide bells to ring with the Liberty Bell and a morning of religious observances since Independence Day falls on a Sunday. Congress would need to approve the extra holiday.
