Casino Appeals Its Closure on Cheat Charges
LAS VEGAS owners of the Silver Slipper casino filed a District Court petition for judicial review claiming the closure on a cheating charge by Nevada gaming officials was unconstitutional. The Slipper, opposite the Desert Inn, was shuttered on a dice cheating charge after agents found shaved dice. IRS had charged operators with $70,000 in arrears in cabaret and employment taxes. The $3 million Slipper was slated for public auction to satisfy tax liens.
