Nixon Says Russia Seeks Peace With Hidden Aims
Nixon told 1,500 Bohemian Grove attendees that the United States seeks peace as an end in itself while the USSR views peace as a step toward global dominance. He urged trade with Iron Curtain states under political conditions, opposed selling war materials to enemies, and warned alliances rely on fear less in Europe than before. He cited NATO, de Gaulle, Macmillan, and praised non Communist Asia, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore as growth areas. Foreign aid should reward friends and withhold from enemies.
