Mundt Reveals Tip on Alger Hiss Evidence Source
Senator Mundt described how a high State Department official, Jack Peurifoy, provided him with security files on Alger Hiss he said the Truman administration would not permit investigators to see. Mundt stated Peurifoy offered to share the evidence if Mundt kept the source private. He claimed Peurifoy later died in an accident after delivering the Hiss dossier.
