Second Key Witness in Burglary Slain
Richard Blaney, 26, a principal state witness against three men in the John B Rich coal magnate burglary case, was killed in a gangland style blast outside his Philadelphia home as he started his car. His brother Vincent Blaney, 27, was previously found murdered in August, and Richard was to testify in September against night club owner Lillian Reis.

Reuther Attacks Hoffa Over AFL-CIO Return
Detroit UPI Walter Reuther, UAW president, warned the Teamsters do not meet basic union morality for readmission to the AFL-CIO. He said he has had no contact with Jimmy Hoffa for years and supports a united labor movement only if unions meet standards, opposing cranks or Communists. Reuther also criticized AFL-CIO leadership under George Meany for lack of dynamic leadership and excessive internal disputes.

Sub Reserve Seeks Four Line Officers
The Submarine Naval Reserve at Terminal Island seeks four line officers in the grades of lieutenant and lieutenant junior grade, preferably submarine qualified. Training options include weekends aboard the USS Roncador at Long Beach Naval Station or at the Naval Reserve Training Center. One third of training time occurs at sea on an operating submarine. Interested officers may contact Lt. Donald E. Upshaw, officer in charge of the Roncador.
