Federal Salary Plan Backed by Business Leaders
A nonpartisan group proposes a 9,000 member pay commission to set top federal salaries. The panel would be appointed by the President, Congress, and Supreme Court, meeting every four years to establish scales for officials including the President, Vice President, Congress, and federal judges. If approved by the President, the scales take effect next calendar year unless Congress acts.
