Surtax extension linked to tax reform debate continues
Senate Democratic Policy Committee after a two hour closed session reaffirmed that surtax extension must await tax reform. Chairman Mike Mansfield said discussions with the Nixon administration will decide whether to act soon while a previously adopted resolution keeps the extension in limbo until reform is ready. Henry Fowler and officials urged speedy extension to curb inflation as Nixon press described the case as fair.
