Flood-Control Channels Studied by Caltech Team
Long Beach report says county supervisors approve a year long 1556 study by Caltech hydraulics and water resources to identify why waves in steep flood channels vary in depth after storms. Engineers seek methods to prevent or control wave action as it travels downstream, affecting flood flows. Also noted, Midshipman Noel Gary Moen of Long Beach will graduate Friday from the California Maritime Academy in Vallejo.
