Kismet at Dorothy Chandler Pavilion Offers Curious Blend
John Spears reviews Kismet at Dorothy Chandler Pavilion through August 21. The production blends romance between Marsinah and the caliph with a comic subplot about Marsinah’s father Hajj. Audiences enjoy lavish sets, colorful costumes, strong leads John Reardon and Victoria Mallory, yet Lalume’s singing fails to match the cast.
