A 30 year old transient was sentenced to one year in county jail for involuntary manslaughter in the Dec 3 beating death of Raymond Krone at the Long Beach jail. Gerald Pickett received three years probation and must enter an alcohol rehabilitation program after release. He gets credit for 227 days served and may be released Aug.
The arraignment of W Jeffery Lakes accused of taking about 13000 in student funds at Long Beach State University was postponed for two days so he could find an attorney. Lakes is free on $2500 bail and was granted a conference until Wednesday by Long Beach Municipal Court Judge W H Winston.
