Proposed County Positions Cut to Save Millions
L. Hollinger, chief county administrative officer, recommended eliminating 389 proposed county jobs to save 1.5 million dollars. The hardest hit areas include the Department of Charities with 217 positions cut across El Cerrito Hospital, Long Beach General Hospital, Harbor General Hospital, Torrance, Rancho Dos Armigos, and Downey. Sixty-one positions would be dropped from the Sheriff’s Department, including 48 deputy sheriffs and six sergeants. No layoffs are involved in the curtailment.
