Woman of the Year named by California Chiropractic Association
Mrs. Muriel Hastings of Long Beach was named Woman of the Year by the California Chiropractic Association Auxiliary at the recent convention in Los Angeles. She previously served as state vice president and is the new auxiliary president-elect. Her project placed educational materials in libraries across 149 junior colleges, 19 state universities and colleges, and eight UC campuses. Mrs. Betty Bundy of Santa Ana was installed as state auxiliary president.

Teens sought as swim aides for handicapped program
Teens fourteen and older who have completed Red Cross Lifesaving courses are invited to volunteer as swim aides for about 150 handicapped children every Monday morning through August at Jewish Community Center 2601 Grand Ave. Coordinators Jan Lum Peggy Martinez and Lori Swatek oversee the Hamlicapped Swim Program now in its first year, assisting handicapped youths who cannot join regular classes. Volunteers need transportation, swimwear, and a towel and should have experience with disabled swimmers or be strong swimmers. Registration via Greater Long Beach Red Cross at 3150 E. 29th St.
