California approves phased motorcycle emission limits
San Francisco AP The Air Resources Board adopted staged limits to cut motorcycle pollution. By 1978 a 10 HC g/km cap, 1980 five HC g/km, and 1982 one HC g/km were proposed, with industry arguing the 1978 target for one gram per kilometer is infeasible for two-stroke bikes. Board members pressed industry claims and favored EPA proposals permitting gradual compliance.
