Mosk Says U S Position Imperils State Water Rights
California Attorney General Stanley Mosk said the federal government has taken a position in the eight year Colorado River water suit that could affect water rights in every state. He wrote to Richard Ervin of Florida warning the stance might give federal control of state water rights. The United States contends waters appurtenant to the Lower Colorado Basin passed to federal control upon U.S. takeover from Mexico and that control may not have been turned over to the lower basin states.
