In tonight's doubleheader action the Motor Patrol at 10-4 faces North Lane Beach in the opener at 6 40 while Stan leading the league at 124 takes on Alamitos Bay in the 8 30 game. Both ships and Patrol have four games left and stand as favorites for first and second place heading to the IL District Tournament starting July 27 at Blairfield. If Motor Patrol loses and Stan wins, a tie for the title could occur. Lakewood at 7-5 could still slip in by beating San Pedro and Shua. A rainout makeup between Lakewood and Alamitos Bay may come later.

Fred Gehrke to Receive Pioneer Award in Canton
Former Rams halfback Fred Gehrke will receive the first Pioneer Award from the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton. The honor recognizes innovations in professional football. Gehrke, with the Rams 1946 to 1949, designed the horned helmet that influenced league helmet styles. he is now Denver Broncos assistant general manager and director of player personnel.
