Trieste II Probes Sunken Scorpion Wreck
The Navy announced that the deep diving submersible Trieste II began a new probe of the Scorpion wreck about 400 miles southwest of the Azores in the Atlantic. The May 1968 loss with 99 crew prompted further photo surveys and debris inspection to help determine the sinking cause. The operation, with a manipulator arm and light basket, runs through summer before likely returning to San Diego.

No Sight of Lone Housewife at Sea
Sharon Adams, 38, attempting a solo Pacific crossing from Yokohama, hasn’t been seen since May 15. Heyerdahl Ra Reed Boat Soggy but Still Sailing

Navy to test deep water salvage gear in Channel
The Navy will start testing new deep water salvage techniques and equipment in the Santa Barbara Channel to extend the 300-foot depth limit. A 20 man team will train for seven weeks and be on call for global salvage jobs using recently developed diving gear.
