Saudis Expand F5 Fighter Fleet Experience
Exclusive comments note Saudi Arabia should build capability around the F5 fighters purchased from the United States. In three years Saudi orders 110 F5s, with about half delivered, and a Northrop led training program for pilots and crews. Senate liberals push wider tax relief in US bill
Senate liberals seek broader tax benefits for low and middle incomes as debate resumes on a sweeping tax revision. They argue the plan could widen the deficit in 1977 while opposing views say the rich would lose loopholes. The Kennedy-led bloc aims to extend last year’s cuts and curb favored deductions, but the final Senate version mirrors the Finance Committee plan more than liberal aims. The only clear liberal win is scrapping a cap on investment income taxation.

Brown outlines pay raises and programs in California plan
Governor Brown details a 2.5 percent raise for most state workers and preserves some automatic increases for judges. He notes a $19 million cut from a $262 million package affecting attorneys and other groups, argues wage differentials should diminish, and touts child care reforms, a larger Conservation Corps, and increased education aid including a $1.3 million Yee scholarship allocation and a 50 percent boost to the Educational Opportunity Program. He avoids predicting action if the state Supreme Court revises capital punishment and deflects timing on his stance.
