Tempers calm as ex-con aids stranded travelers on I- I
Mary McManus and her elderly parents faced heat and peril on the Kennedy Expressway when Tom Yselding, an ex-convict serving work release, stopped to help. He changed tires, towed them to a service station, and offered assistance without expecting pay, earning praise from a correctional counselor. Yselding, who drove Ray Flavin and Florence Flavin to their daughter’s home and assisted Mrs. McManus, plans to seek parole later this year.
