Progress Report on Feasibility of Oil Unitization Pact
City officials and private lessees report steady progress in unitizing oil production from tidelands and uplands in the southeast Lozg Beach area. City Manager John K. Mansell says a formal council report will cover equity for families, production costs, engineering steps, and legal drafting as about 90 percent of the unit sits on city tidelands east of Pine Avenue. Potential output could top 725 million barrels of oil and 150 billion cubic feet of gas with value over 1.7 billion dollars. Committees from the city state and lessees have met since May 22 to finalize engineering accounts and legal details, with offshore coring specs to guide bidding for a 22 production contract among thousands of bidders.
