Orange County health unit appeals plan ruling
Gov Brown named the Orange County Board of Supervisors as the county health planning agency prompting an appeal to HEW. Staney Matek, executive director of the county Health Planning Council, says the decision is a disappointment but not a surprise and will be taken to Washington. The issue covers hospital beds, new hospitals, rest homes, and facility additions with HEW funding influence. Brown’s choice carries weight but HEW secretary Mathews says it will not decide the outcome.
