AMA Opposes Dignity in Death Resolution at Dallas
At the 125th AMA convention in Dallas the House of Delegates rejected a liberalized policy that would give doctors final say on discontinuing life sustaining devices after consultation. Delegates reaffirmed opposition to statutes defining death, while approving a stance against violence on television and urging physicians to lead in anti smoking efforts. The matter was referred to the Judicial Council for review amid ongoing legislative actions.
