Rockefeller stays out of national scene amid pressure
Albany reports Gov. Nelson Rockefeller resists being dragged into national politics while acknowledging pressure to take a stand on Vietnam and other international issues. He avoided a candidacy claim, invoking a tightrope analogy, and praised Michgan Gov. Romney as a strong candidate. In Wisconsin, GOP district leaders favor Rockefeller for 1968, edging Nixon, with Romney Reagan and Percy far behind.
