CHICANOS ON THE MARCH ENDS AT EAST LOS ANGELES RALLY

Hundreds of South and Mexican Americans including contingents from Long Beach and Orange County begin a march that will culminate Sunday in a large East Los Angeles rally protesting police brutality. Organizers from the Chicano Moratorium Committee lead the vanguard with other groups joining from Long Beach, San Pedro, Pomona, Venice, western Orange County and Ventura. The march ends near Belvedere Park beside the East Los Angeles sheriff's station amid pledges by leaders and police to avoid confrontations.

High Rise Quake Peril Warns of West Coast Collapse

A Commerce Department study by Karl Steinbrugde warns that many modern high rise reinforced concrete frames in San Francisco Los Angeles and other western cities could collapse in a great earthquake.
