Major Red Food and Arms Dumps Captured Near Saigon
U S troops seized two large Communist food and munitions dumps less than 200 miles from Saigon. About 1,500 American infantrymen held 100 Viet Cong in a third day of entrapment as flarelight lit their positions. B 52 bombers dropped about one million pounds on a central highlands battlefield where 320 Reds were killed. Other B 52s attacked base camps near the Cambodian border. The Viet Cong were pinned down in a Tice paddy southwest of Saigon, with defenders’ resistance waning.
