No new word on Ecuador seized tuna seiners
In San Diego the American Tunaboat Association said no new word had come from Ecuador on negotiations for release of four U S seiners seized for fishing within Ecuador 200 mile limits. Vessels were directed to Salinas for fishing without licenses about 125 miles offshore. Skippers questioned aboard a Salinas naval destroyer and later transferred to Guayaquil where talks continued. Rep Lionel Van Deerlin criticized US policy saying it could destroy the tuna industry.

Harris spoke at a Los Angeles news conference while seeking volunteers for his 1976 Democratic presidential bid.
